The Absolutes of God

In a day of wishy-washy promises, it’s thrilling to know that we can trust our lives to the Absolutes of God. These unchanging facts are, positively, definitely for sure!! These Absolutes will rearrange your priorities and anchor you through any storm. Because they are expressions of the character of God and/or recorded in the written Word of God, they are immovable, unshakeable, and unchanging.

There are many absolutes of God. Some are more obvious than others. “God loves you,” or “God is good” are foundational truths that will never change. Neither will “God has a good plan for your life” or “God wants you healed and whole.” Here are four Rock-solid absolutes that we’ve been teaching our Texas Bible Institute students since 1991. You’ll be strengthened, too.

Everyone Will Have a “That Day”

As believers, we live in the reality of a very important Day; one not found on the Hallmark calendars which hang on your kitchen wall. There are only two days that matter; This day and That Day. “That” Day refers to Romans 14:10 where Paul says, “We shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ,” This is not a frightening experience, my friend since your eternal destination was already determined when you trusted Jesus as your Savior. For the believer, “That Day” is rewarding. We know from the Scriptures that Heaven records everything you’ve done for Him, regardless if it’s a simple kind gesture or sacrificial labor of love. Everything is recorded and rewarded. I can’t know for sure if you’ll ever stand before kings, but you will positively stand before the King of kings on That Day. Let this sobering truth inspire you to faith and holiness.

The Holy Spirit is Always Right

Living for God becomes a joy when you’ve accepted this absolute: “The Holy Ghost knows everything and the Holy Ghost is always right.” God never intended you to raise children on natural knowledge or grow your business on your intellect. As a believer, you have inside information to guarantee your success. This Helper abides inside of you. Meditate on this thought: The Holy Spirit lives in Me. The Holy Spirit is always right.

In 1995, we were in desperate need of a Director of Food Services. Some nice people applied, bringing with them some impressive resumes, but the Holy Ghost (who is always right) told Tommy to graciously decline each of them. When a pastor friend mentioned a chef he knew, who wanted to change his ways, we felt a prompting to meet him. His name was Lupe. He was a big, bearded man. I have to honestly admit that he looked a little scary to me. His long hair rested on his shoulders and he told of his life filled with drugs and motorcycles. He was currently working on a fishing boat in Alaska!

You can imagine my surprise when Tommy said, “Rachel, I believe that Jesus is sending him to us. Let’s love him and give him a chance.” That was many years ago and Lupe served as our Food Service Director for over ten years. He is now a happily married man and proud, godly father to two adorable daughters. Yes, the Holy Spirit is always right.

All Things Work Together for Good

Romans 8:28 is one of the most amazing absolutes in God’s Word. This promise does not apply to everyone, but exclusively for “those who love God.” Do you qualify? If so, every setback, disappointment, crisis, and heartbreak will be redirected towards your wholeness and His purposes. Only a good God like ours can turn a mess into a miracle. Isaiah 61:3 reinforces this principle. It says that God will give you “beauty for ashes, and the oil of joy for mourning.” Be encouraged today that, when you trust Him with your“ugly,” He can turn it into something“beautiful.”

God’s Promises Can Be Trusted

If you’re living under the stress of worry and fear today, you might ask me, “Rachel, can you give me a reason to even get out of bed?” Yes, dear ones, I can give you 7,487 reasons. That’s how many promises the Father gave to you as a Bible believer. Spend some time reading and meditating on II Peter 1:3-4, II Cor. 1:20, and Titus 1:2. You’ll quickly learn that your Father has provided and paid for everything you need for a victorious, overcoming, abundant life filled with purpose. I challenge you to live by these amazing Absolutes of God and your good days are, positively, definitely guaranteed.
